To cover important events involving both local and international politicians and VIPs, John has Australian NVMC accreditation by the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department. This identifies him as a person with a legitimate media interest in the visits of foreign dignitaries and/or major events.

For railway events and activities, John holds Level One Track Awareness Safety accreditation.

John uses Canon film cameras, L Series lenses with mainly Fuji 35mm transparency film, and a Canon 10D Pro SLR Digital Camera. He is a member of Canon Professional Services and has access to a wide range of equipment to suit most assignments.
