The Forever Lands: Australia's Northern Territory

Mark O'Connor is all green and gold, as befits our Olympic Poet. He is a conservationist with a scientific muse, yet he has the polished verbal gold of a classicist.

John Kirk's colours are the blues, reds, greens and yellows of Australia's monsoonal north and of the desert centre. He is a truly remarkable photographic artist. Readers will surely be amazed at how the land glows and asserts itself in his images. Even the Aboriginal lightning spirit Nemargon has yielded to patience and let himself be photographed live, in one of his millisecond existences.

This is not one of those books where the works of different types of artist face each other on alternate pages. The two authors have worked together closely in the field, as on the page. The result is an exceptional collaboration of word-imagery and of pictorial imagery - the two uniting to create a unique sense of that three-quarters of our continent which nature has set aside for mystic poetry.
